AGM REPORT 2007

GROUP SCOUT LEADERS Report 2007

GROUP

This year the Group has achieved an increase of ten members up on last year’s census bringing us to 73 members, which I believe may be one of the highest numbers we have had.

LEADERS

At the end of the summer term Duncan Mitchell stepped down as Assistant Cub Leader due to family commitments which left David Lee running Cubs with the help of Sarah Manning.

We have been temporally helping David out with the help of the other Leaders, but this is not a permanent measure.

David will be stepping down at the end of the summer term after 17 years service with the group. I would like to take this opportunity to wish him well and thank him on behalf of the group and all the members who have been through the Scouting movement with him over the past 17 years.

I am still trying to find someone to take over the role of Cub Leader, before David’s departure, to date we have had no volunteers.

In February, Becky Butcher stepped down as Assistant Scout Leader.

Annette Tyrala-Raliton Assistant Beaver Leader will be changing roles moving to Assistant Cub Leader this is due to work commitments.

This leaves the beavers with Debbie Campbell as Beaver Leader, assisted by Belle Campbell our Young Leader and Sean Ambrose Assistant Beaver Leader when work allows, we also have a parent’s rota to help with the colony.

David Chambers will be taking on the role of Explorer Young Leader, on completion of his training he will be able to assist with all the sections.

Mike Magowan has joined our group as Assistant Group Scout Leader he will be assisting me with the group, he will also be able to help out in the group as and when he is able to fit in with work and other commitments, he has been involved in the Fellowship section of Scouting in the London area

Mrs Clifft has agreed to take on the role of Assistant Cub Leader in the near future and help David; this does not mean that the cubs will not be closing; as I have stated we still need to find a leader before the end of the summer it may be that this role could be shared between leaders on a rota bases or work together in a joint role.

A further letter will be going out to the parents updating them of the situation.

CAMP SITE

Paul Snelling Scout Leader has continued to maintain the Group Web Site and organise the bookings/activities for the camp site.

This continues to be a main source of income for the group my thanks to Paul for his continued hard work for the group.

The new storage shed has been completed and all the camping equipment has been moved into it, this has enabled the cupboards in the headquarters to be freed up for the sections equipment, enabling the metal cabinets to be moved out to make more room in the headquarters.

We do need help from parents to assist with the ground maintenance at the headquarters and camp site.

THANKS

My thanks go to Bill Snelling for his continued support in his grass cutting and looking after the recycling area at the village hall.

My thanks also goes to the committee, to all the leaders, assistants and everyone for all their support during this past year whilst I have been out of action looking after Paula.

I look forward to working with you all this coming year.

Graham Lumley

Group Scout Leader
