Beavers meet on Wednesday evenings from 17.15hrs to 18.30hrs at The Scout Headquarters, The Croft, Bures, Suffolk CO8 5JD
We offer a wide and varied range of activities that provide a balanced programme, allowing each member to work towards challenge and activity badges. These badges are part of the National Beaver Programme aimed at encouraging development and providing new challenges.
Activities are both indoor and outdoors, they include individual tasks as well as team games. They range from arts & crafts and educational items to treasure hunts, sports and District and County Beaver events.
New Beavers will be invested in four-six weeks once they have a Beaver top and have learnt their Beaver Promise and Law. Investiture will take place at the end of the meeting – family members are welcome to attend.

Beaver tops should be worn every meeting, once invested, unless otherwise stated.
We will supply a scarf (old gold), woggle and badges at investiture.
Subscriptions are payable to 1st Bures Beavers. They are currently £38.00 per term per Beaver. Subscription money pays for membership fee to Gilwell Park (Association Headquarters), badges, scarves, stationery, postage, Leaders travelling expenses and maintenance of SHQ building/grounds, general repairs and evening activity costs.

Access to Scout and Guide Headquarters to Beaver meetings by car is from the Sudbury Road entrance (B1508) just passed the cottages (Croft End). You must only access this entrance and exit via The Croft ensuring a One-Way System is operational. This helps minimize traffic congestion. The speed limit along The Croft is 10mph. At no time should you exit via the Sudbury Road, as it is on a dangerous corner.
How to join the Group: Please contact us for joining enquiries, from time to time we have a joining list if you would like to add your child’s name to the list please contact us. The age range is from 6 years to 8 years old.

The Beavers Calendar & Events
We expect ALL Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & Explorers to attend Remembrance Day Parade and Service either at St Mary’s Church or Primary School. FULL Uniform needed.
Assemble at 10am (Post Office or Primary School). Parade afterwards in Church Square to War Memorial by ALL sections. Wreath laying by sections and Royal British Legion. Finishes at 11.45am in Church Square.
Bures Fayre on The Common from 4pm-7pm
Hampers theme again. Each Section to collect for their theme.
All proceeds to The Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Charity

We expect ALL Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers to attend the St George’s Day Parade and Service. Assemble at the Village Hall Car Park at 2pm Sharp in FULL Uniform.
Parade starts at 2.30pm to Church, Service and Parade back to the Village Hall Car Park. Finishes at 4.45pm. All Leaders
Group AGM for all Sections, BBQ and Awards Evening presented by Section Leaders
All parents/volunteers are invited to attend.
All members of Explorers, Scouts, Cubs and Beavers to attend
The meeting will take place outside on the lawn.
Latest Beavers News
We removed some very large tree stumps from the camping areas in early June 2019 - work was carried out by Nigel and Adam Norton. Currently we are levelling out and grass seeding areas ready for camping at the end of the season.
Jumble in the Community Centre - there was loads A great result at the Jumble Sale on Saturday 23rd March 2019 - raising over £850 for equipment at the Scout Headquarters! Thank you so much everyone for your help - we had an army of members, parents and volunteers...
Scouts and Cubs enjoyed attending the Championship game at Portman Road featuring Ipswich Town v Stoke City on Saturday 16th February. Seated in the Co-Op Stand. And we got to see a goal just before the end of the game!
