Air Ambulance Visit (Fox & Kingfisher)
We visited the Essex and Hertfordshire Air Ambulance Station at Earls Colne Business Park, Earls Colne, Essex in February. We were given a warm welcome by the volunteer staff. We saw a video about the two helicopters that they use a Agusta Westland 169 (North Weald) and the McDonnell Douglas Explorer (Earls Colne), the hospitals which they go to in the counties of Essex, Hertfordshire and East London.
We were given a guided tour of the hanger – where the helicopter was stationed in. Saw inside the cockpit, medical stretcher room and the Rapid Response Vehicle. Luckily, a paramedic was still on duty and gladly helped out with the tour and showed the Scouts inside the helicopter – thank you. We were told about how much it cost to run the charity daily/monthly and yearly. Scouts really enjoyed their visit and we aim to complete the Challenge Badge that is run by the charity. Thank you.
