Group Camp – The Croft Camp Site 2017
A very successful Group Camp took place over the weekend of Friday 9th-Sunday 11th June at our Camp Site, Bures with glorious weather.
We did activities of: Kayaking, Canadian Canoes for Beavers and Parents, Slack Lining, Air Rifle Shooting, Nature Scavenger Hunt (making Boats out of natural materials), Circus Skills in the Headquarters and Archery (run by Mark Miller of Boxford Scouts), many thanks Mark.
In the evening, there was a Camp Fire held with singing and fun songs.
On Sunday – the Group took part in an Open Air Church Service in the Headquarters Grounds led by the Vicar Steve Morely and Liz Moulton (ASL). The camp finished around the flag pole with investiture of new Cubs and presentations of Circus Skills Badges to Scouts who attended. Tony Waring (GSL) presented Paul Snelling (SL) with Certificate from Braintree District Volunteer Awards 2017 in recognition of his volunteering for 1st Bures Scout Group – Long Service Award. Many thanks for the parents who helped out with the catering and Beaver parents coming along with their children – helping supervising on the activities. Other Leaders who helped make this camp happen were: Dan Wood, Juliette Shields, Tim Fairbairn, Eddie Gordon, Jo Waring, Lisa Magowan and Callum Byrne (YL).
