Welcome to Rainbows
This section is currently CLOSED due to Leader problems. If you are interested in starting up the section again – please contact Tony Waring (GSL) email: firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Welcome to 1st Bures Rainbows. Rainbows is for girls aged 5-7 years.
We meet every Tuesday afternoon between 16.45hrs to 17.45hrs (term time only) at the Scout & Guide Headquarters, The Croft (off the High Street), Bures, Suffolk CO8 5JD.
At our meetings Rainbows enjoy a range of activities and challenges to encourage them to think for themselves, helping each Rainbow to develop and enjoy learning. We use a look, learn, laugh, love system which encourages team work and individual choice. The girls work towards a range of Roundabout badges, play lots of games, go on visits and do lots of crafting.
We do operate a parents rota. Parents/Guardians will need to volunteer one week per term. If you cannot attend your week, it is your responsibility to find a replacement. Without that help, there will be no meeting.
The minimum we ask for is a red tabard, but most of the girls wear the t-shirt and fleece. There is a whole range of clothing to choose from – take a look at the Girlguiding website for more information in uniforms.
SENSIBLE FOOTWEAR is required and each girl must bring with them a BOTTLED DRINK and a SNACK (ie a piece of fruit) each week.
The uniform can be obtained from: The Schoolwear Shop, 5 Gaol Lane, Sudbury. Tel: (01787) 881500 or from the Girlguiding website.
Waiting List & First Meeting
We currently have a waiting list in operation. If you would like your daughter to attend Rainbows then please drop us an email to register your interest, or go to the Girlguiding website and fill in the Join Us form. When a place becomes available we will contact you to arrange a unit visit. Places are offered strictly in age order only (regardless of the date you register).
When your daughter has decided she would like to stay, she will be given a Rainbow Bag and a Ready for Rainbows Book. There is a one off joining fee of £5. After she has settled in and feels ready, your daughter will be enrolled and the whole unit will celebrate with a Promise Party.
