Scout Leader in the King’s Birthday Honour List 2025

Date: 15th Jun 2025 Author: Paul Snelling

Our congratulations to Paul Snelling (Scout Leader) who has been awarded a British Empire Medal for his Services to Young People on Saturday 14th June 2025.

Paul Snelling Scout Leader.

Paul has been a member of 1st Bures Scout Group for over 50 years. He first joined the Group as a Cub in 1974, moving onto the Scout Troop in 1975. As he grew up, he continued to help out within the Group. In 1985, he became an Assistant Leader; then 4 years later, a Scout Leader. Alongside this, Paul also spent time volunteering as a District Scout Leader. Over the past 40 years he has supported and encouraged hundreds of young people to participate in Scouting activities.

In addition to his role as a Scout leader, Paul has voluntarily maintained our Scout HQ facilities and grounds to a high standard for many years. He manages our campsite bookings and liaises with other groups wishing to use our facilities.

Earlier this year, Paul was awarded a Commissioner’s Commendation Award for Outstanding Service to Sudbury District Scouts. This goes along with the Medal of Merit that he received in 2007. He will celebrate 40 yearsservice to Scouts later this year.

We are hugely grateful for all that Paul does for 1st Bures Scout Group and are delighted that his commitment over many years has been recognised through this award.
