Scouts returns with visit to Marks Tey Railway Station – September 2024

Date: 10th Sep 2024 Author: Paul Snelling

The new Autumn/Winter term started with a visit to Marks Tey Station. We travelled by train (free tickets from Greater Anglia) from Bures to Marks Tey on the Gainsborough Line for a Railway Safety talk led by Safe Rail and the Essex & Suffolk Community Rail Partnership.

Safe Rail talked about footpath crossings, using the bridge, electric lines, switch over points, yellow line, fast trains, freight trains, air movement and not to go onto the tracks.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
